Words and interview by Glenn Elliott
In another lakeside episode of Kassette Weißensee, DJ Christoph Faust meets up with rising SEVEN resident Daisy Weweh for a gentle walk around Berlin’s Weißensee and a warm, revealing chat about her journey through music, identity, and relocation.
Born in Berlin but raised in Kyiv, Daisy speaks openly about her unexpected return to Germany following the outbreak of war, and how her move to Berlin marked the beginning of a new chapter—both personally and musically.
Over the course of their conversation, Daisy shares the story of how she fell in love with DJing through her ex-boyfriend, started out playing disco in bars in Ukraine, and eventually found her own sound in house music. She recounts the nerves of her first proper club gig at PAL in Hamburg, and reflects on how far she’s come in just two short years.
The two also explore the emotional weight of perfectionism—something Daisy connects to her Ukrainian upbringing—and the liberating effect Berlin has had on her personality and creative style. Now learning to mix vinyl and collecting rare 90s house records, Daisy is driven by curiosity, craft, and a deep love for the dancefloor.
Whether you’re a fan of SEVEN, a fellow selector, or just someone curious about the life behind the booth, this episode offers a touching and intimate portrait of an artist in motion. From the weight of expectation to the joy of transformation, Daisy’s story reminds us that sometimes, finding your place means following your feeling.

Christoph Faust:
Hello, this is Christoph Faust, and you’re listening to Kassette Weißensee, my new podcast about house music and uplifting stuff. Today for the third episode, I have Daisy Weweh with me. Hello, Daisy!
Daisy Weweh:
Hi!
Christoph:
How are you doing today?
Daisy:
I’m doing good. It’s such a nice thing to be here with you.
Christoph:
You’re much welcome. Yeah, we’re having a walk around the Weißensee right now. And we also just recorded a set at JIRI. If you don’t know it, JIRI is a beautiful bar and event location in Neukölln next to Hermannplatz. Definitely worth a visit. Check their Instagram and their program—there’s probably something in there for you.
So, Daisy, as usual, I want to start by asking a bit about your background. Where do you come from? How and why did you start making music?
Daisy:
Okay, so—I’m actually from Ukraine. A lot of people don’t know that. I was born in Berlin, but I lived almost all my life in Kyiv. Then the war started, and I made the decision to move to Hamburg. And now I’m here in Berlin.
Christoph:
Why did you come to Berlin? I mean, Hamburg is a really beautiful city.
Daisy:
It is, but something was missing for me there. It’s hard to explain—just a special feeling. I also had this intuition that Berlin would be really good for me. So I moved.
Christoph:
Nice. Well, welcome to Berlin!
Daisy:
Thank you!
Christoph:
So can you tell us a bit more about how you started making music? I know you mentioned before that you’re quite fresh in the scene, but I’m sure your love of music goes back further.
Daisy:
Yeah, everything started around four years ago. My ex-boyfriend is a DJ, and he introduced me to everything. I fell in love with what he was doing. I went with him to all his gigs, and then I got this idea that I wanted to try it myself. He showed me how everything works, and I started out playing disco music, mostly at bars.
Christoph:
In Hamburg?
Daisy:
No, this was still in Ukraine—before I moved. But after some time I felt that bar gigs weren’t really my thing, especially the disco kicks, and I decided to switch to house music. Then the war started, and I moved to Hamburg.
Christoph:
And then you had your first gig?
Daisy:
Yes! It was at PAL, and it was so crazy for me. I couldn’t eat or sleep before it—I was so stressed. It wasn’t a perfect gig, not at all.
Christoph:
Why? Did something go wrong?
Daisy:
Nothing went “wrong,” but I wasn’t confident at all. I was nervous, and everything was so new. But I always remember this quote: “If you’re nervous, it means it’s important to you.”
Christoph:
Totally true. It was important—and it was PAL, after all. Best club in Hamburg, your first gig. Of course, you wanted everything to go smoothly.
So now, after two years of DJing more seriously—how has that journey been? Do you feel more confident?
Daisy:
Yes, for sure. I feel much more comfortable now; I also practice a lot. I think I’m kind of a perfectionist, so if I mess up a mix, I feel really bad. But overall, I feel much better, and lately I’ve also been learning to play vinyl.
Christoph:
How’s that going?
Daisy:
Very hard, I must say. But I feel like maybe soon I could start playing. Though in clubs, I think it’ll take time until I feel comfortable.
Christoph:
Yeah, it takes time. But honestly, I think the most proper way to play house music is on vinyl. Like when I see Ogazon playing vinyl—those amazing tracks, the vibe—it’s something else.
Daisy:
Yes! And you can find really rare tracks on vinyl.
Christoph:
Totally.
Daisy:
That’s actually my problem right now. I’ve found so many 90s tracks I love, but they’re vinyl-only. So I can’t play them yet. But yeah—practice, practice.
Christoph:
You’ve got this perfectionism—do you think that comes from your Ukrainian roots?
Daisy:
Maybe, yeah. Most of my Ukrainian friends are perfectionists. I think it comes from how we grow up—everything should be on point.
Christoph:
And has moving to Germany changed you?
Daisy:
Absolutely. I feel like I’ve changed already. Not just in music or fashion, but in personality. I’m more open now, more relaxed.
Christoph:
So you kind of found yourself in a new way?
Daisy:
Exactly. I think I already had a strong sense of self, but I’m discovering new opportunities here.
Christoph:
That’s beautiful. Okay, and maybe before we jump into the mix—what’s coming up next for you?
Daisy:
My next gig is at Hamburg in Übel & Gefährlich, with my dear friend Aimé You. The headliner is X-Coast, so I think it’s going to be a really good night. Come check it out!
Christoph:
Lovely to have you, Daisy. Let’s jump into your mix now. Hope you all enjoy it—and remember: like, share, support! Big kisses. Ciao!
